Having a bath is one of life’s small luxuries. Not only do they relax and clean you, but they are also good for you! Relaxing in hot water also comes under the heading ‘Hydrotherapy’ and research concludes that there are many benefits! In fact, in one study, immersive bathing is proven to be better for you than showering…
- Mental Wellbeing: A study of 38 adults looked at 2 weeks of baths versus 2 weeks of showers. Scores were significantly improved for fatigue, stress and ‘smile” as were those for depression, anger & hostility and tension than after showering.
- Sleep: Getting eight hours of sleep remains elusive to many. But a warm bath before bed can help. At night our body temperatures naturally drop, which signals the production of melatonin—or the sleeping hormone. It’s not so much the bath that helps you sleep, but getting out of it, as your body hits the colder air, so it signals the production of melatonin.
- Muscle Pain: A hot bath can help relieve muscle pain as heat gets your blood moving, which is great for both circulation and sore or tight muscles.
- Weightloss:Bathing can help lose weight – or so says a study by Loughborough University. Bathing in a hot bath resulted in as many calories being burned as a half hour walk!
For those with very dry skin or Keratosis Pilaris (‘chicken skin’) having a bath is stressful. For the few moments reward of blissful relaxation, the payoff of tight, dry skin is just not worth it. Until now, AMELIORATE has created NEW Softening Bath Milk Oil.
The ingredient list is chosen with care: colloidal oats to soothe, Starflower, Camelina and Sweet Almond Oils to nourish and the unique LaH6 Skin Hydration Complex to intensely moisturise the skin.
It is formulated so the active moisturising ingredients, which are soap-free and pH-balanced, are attracted to your skin and do not wash away with the bathwater, in fact, it is clinically proven to moisturise after bathing for up to 8 hours – even if you do have very dry skin or KP!
As with all AMELIORATE products, it has been researched and independently tested on those with rough, dry and bumpy skin – 89% said it left their skin feeling softer after first use and 86% said their skin felt moisturised and less dry. 89% loved the fragrance and 82% felt it was luxurious – whilst these last two might seem to be less important, for those of us who struggle with hot water to be able to enjoy a little luxury and emerge smelling beautiful is so exciting – not just a bath, or a hot bath, but a luxuriously indulgent bath – the return of the bath!
