1. What Does Your Weekly Bodycare Routine Look Like?
Since the onset of the pandemic, I started to treat myself to more luxurious body care products and became more interested in my body than ever before. Since we didn’t have access to treatments, I wanted to make sure that my daily shower routine was a mini pampering session.
It’s a pretty simple routine, I cleanse with a luxury shower gel, usually Le Labo or Malin & Goetz and moisturise daily. I love the Limited Edition Ameliorate Body Lotions, particularly the Orange Blossom and Warm Amyris scents, the Embryolisse Lait Creme Fluide is a firm favourite too. Once a week, I use a body scrub. I love the Ameliorate Smoothing Body Exfoliant and for extra sensory pleasure the Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub is great too!
2. What Is The Thing You Love Most About Your Body?
I became paralysed 7 years ago so I have a very different relationship with my body now compared to when I was able bodied.
I suffer from extreme chronic pain and many other issues that come along with being paralysed. It’s part of why self care and skincare are a really great source of escapism for me.3. How Has Your Skin Changed Throughout Your 40s?
It’s definitely becoming more dry and requires a lot more hydration!
Ageing is something I’m extremely interested in and I can see the structural changes occurring which is truly fascinating for me. It’s no longer just about skincare, I’m starting to look at ways to address the structural changes.4. In Terms Of Bodycare, What Is Your Biggest Skin Concern?
Hydration is always number one and as I get older that’s perhaps followed by firming.5. What Is Your Biggest Bodycare Indulgence?
Reflexology! I have it once a week and it really wakes up all the nerves in my feet which I typically struggle feeling. Sometimes the session can be really energising and other times it can be more healing and peaceful.
6. How Do You Keep Your Body Fit And Healthy?
Pre-Covid I used to go to Physiotherapy which was great, however that’s not been possible the past year or so. Since I’m not able to keep fit on my own, I really had to turn to diet as if I put on any significant amount of weight - I won’t fit into my wheelchair.
At the beginning of Covid, like many people, I turned to the cookies and crisps. After the first lockdown, I really took my diet and health much more seriously and I feel so much better for it! I pretty much eat a Mediterranean diet.
7. What’s The Best Thing About Being In Your 40s?
I think we develop a resilience that perhaps doesn’t yet exist in our 20s and 30s. Relationships are more resilient, they weather more storms and come out stronger because of it. You learn to be assertive without guilt attached, setting boundaries is much easier and I found this quite hard in my twenties and thirties.
I’m generally more confident in myself even though my circumstances are completely different to what they were in my thirties, and I’m proud I’ve made it here.8. What Are Your Favourite Ameliorate Bodycare Products?
Most definitely the Limited Edition Body Lotions, however I’ve got my eye on the Hair Care.Bodycare Routines In Your 50s: Tracey Hoole @the_traceydiaries

1. What Does Your Weekly Bodycare Routine Look Like?
I have a bath every night. I'm like a fish - happiest in water. I love to add lots of bubble bath or an indulgent Bath Oil depending on my mood. I love a good soak and to switch off for a while. I use a Body Scrub once or twice a week and follow with lots of Moisturiser. When I'm feeling particularly 'on it' I dry Body Brush before my bath. To be honest this doesn't happen as often as it maybe should.2. What Is The Thing You Love Most About Your Body?
Good question. I quite like my feet and my favourite feature are my eyes.3. How Has Your Skin Changed Throughout Your 50s?
I'm currently going through the perimenopause and my skin is being very erratic. I have random breakouts mainly around my chin and jawline which at 50 is very frustrating. My skin feels drier on my body.4. In Terms Of Bodycare, What Is Your Biggest Skin Concern?
Dry and saggy skin.5. What Is Your Biggest Bodycare Indulgence?
I love a good Bath Oil and Body Moisturiser.6. How Do You Keep Your Body Fit And Healthy?
I am trying to eat healthier and cut down on the chocolate. I've recently started the keto diet which involves eating lots of meat, fish and vegetables. It's quite boring but I've lost over half a stone so far. I take various supplements like collagen and vitamin D. I'm trying to cut down on my coffee intake and substitute it with water or fresh juice, but I love my coffee so it isn't easy!7. What’s The Best Thing About Being In Your 50s?
Oh I'm not sure, I've only been 50 a few months. Probably not caring so much about what people think about you. An appreciation of the little things.8. What Are Your Favourite Ameliorate Bodycare Products?
I love the Body Wash and the Transforming Body Lotion with a hint of colour. It's very moisturising and it adds a hint of colour to your skin which is much needed, especially on legs that haven't seen the light of day for a while. It goes on quite dark but rubs into a beautiful subtle colour and it smells delicious.Products Our Customers Are Loving
